TSOC Aims to Simplify Cabling for Installers
Transglobal Systems of Canada (TSOC) aims to simplify at least one aspect of the equipment integration process via a pre-configured and pre-bundled data cabling solution called Smart-Connect.
Imran Hasan, president of Mississauga, Ont.-based TSOC, said the solution has the capacity to address many of the issues common to integration: time on site, the number of people required, and the amount of disruption that may be caused as construction trades strive to complete their part of the project. “This is just what every contractor experiences,” he said. “It just became the norm.”
Hasan described TSOC’s Smart-Connect solution as a relatively simple fix. The company is pre-bundling and pre-terminating its data cabling products in a six-port design. The Smart-Bundle can be run from a patch panel to a consolidation point and run either above a drop-ceiling or below a raised floor. Based on this equation, installers can determine their client’s needs and install not only what they need for today but build in redundancy based on what their cabling requirements may be in the near future.
The Smart-Bundles, available in CAT 5E, CAT 6, CAT 6A variations and beyond, are pre-tested before they leave TSOC’s facility and may be tested again on-site, providing an extra layer of assurance, said Hasan. (The installer and end user also receive a report of the test results.)
The spools on which the Smart-Bundles are supplied are also recyclable and may be returned to TSOC, cutting down on potential waste. “It’s a matter of thinking through all the pain points,” said Hasan.
The solution was first launched in 2020 and has seen greater adoption this year, according to Hasan. It is currently available through Think Modular, a design and integration firm. Due to the pandemic, service providers had to get creative to limit the number of people they could deploy to a customer location, added Hasan. He estimated that a pre-configured solution requires only half the number of people on site and can be installed in about half the time.
Smart-Connect is currently available across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Hasan aims to make the solution available across Canada through TSOC integration partnerships.
